YAs gather for scheduled events at:
We start with a short educational session, reviewing visible constellations and planning which objects to find in the sky that night. Then we work with the telescopes.
YAs are encouraged to participate in these events and especially to bring their own telescopes to the RFO, because there are docents and amateur astronomers who can provide assistance and guidance. Visit the Observatory's website at rfo.org for the latest schedule. Directions to the Observatory can be found here.
Many YAs bring their telescopes to School Astronomy Nights to share their interest with other students and to practice using their scopes. There's always an adult astronomer nearby who will answer questions. Our YAs get to experience what we all do when we share our telescopes—people ask questions that make us want to learn even more. And it's really fun!
